MedLite C Laser Treatment for Pigmented Lesions

It is now possible to take effective action against pigmented lesions, which include obvious brown spots, age spots, "liver spots," freckles and birthmarks.  Pigmented lesions result from higher concentrations of melanin (the substance which gives skin its color) in an area of the skin and are caused by a variety of factors such as heredity, aging, and overexposure to the damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun.

The Medlite laser removes pigmented lesions with the energy of light.  The specialized light produced by the Medlite laser is absorbed by the pigmented lesion.  The unwanted pigment is then destroyed, thus removing or lightening the targeted lesion.  The Medlite is designed to leave normal skin pigmentation intact.  After the treatment, the area feels similar to a light sunburn.  An antibacterial ointment and a dressing is usually applied to the area immediately after treatment.  The Medlite laser also effectively treats foreign body "tattoos" caused by the absorption of road debris or trauma.
